The world of dog/cat accessories design has come miles from the plaid sweaters and flimsy metal or plastic bowls our pets grew up with. There have been quirky, cute, hip, practical and even legged additions to the food-bowl lineup, but now the pet-food container industry has taken a brave new step into the modern world.

WetnOz, a company in Austin, Texas, has just introduced a line of bowls that look like steel Nambe serving vessels, with heavy rubber legs and sturdy flat rubber bases. The base keeps them from skidding along the floor, the legs keep them from tipping, but the most convenient feature has to be the built-in handle. For all dogophiles know the last place one's fingers want to be is inside a bowl of used dog water.
